Who & What we are
A member-based community where we exchange ideas, learn from webinars (and eachother), network with a purpose, and get solid, hands-on help with marketing. Whether you are aspiring, debut or seasoned; this place if for you.
I’m Angela Douglas, author of Every Fall (January 2025), former Director of Communications for the Federation of BC Writers, former VP of Communications of Sisters in Crime Canada West, and the founder of Eyes on Books. I come from a Marketing Communications background—but let’s be honest, no one knows everything. And that’s exactly the point.
The magic happens when you bring in experts, pair that with authors who are out there trying new things, and create a space where we can swap ideas, share resources, and celebrate wins together. This isn’t just about learning marketing—it’s about building a supportive community where we all help each other grow.
What we CAN do:
Provide fresh and informative programming to help you learn how to do the marketing tasks yourself, cheaper than hiring someone, and less frustrating than googling.
Provide consistent office hours during which a forum is monitored to help you in real time.
Host a once-a-month live Q&A session to answer all of your burning marketing questions.
Provide a one-on-one marketing consultation tailored to your needs and narrow your list of tasks for marketing yourself and your books.
Provide useful, immediately usable templates to help you market and plan to market your books.
Provide you with a community to connect with for the purpose of broadening your network and helping one another.
What we can and cannot do
What we CANNOT do:
Make people love your book. It sounds funny, but if there were a secret formula for being a bestseller, we’d all be doing it. What we can do is help you get your book in front of more people who are likely to buy and enjoy it.
Market for you. Doing the marketing for you is an entirely different business.
Make you participate. Like many of the other wonderful writing organizations out there, you get what you put in or what you commit to. The more sessions you attend and the more questions you ask, the more you will get out of it.
Make you do things you don’t want to do. And please don’t! There are hundreds, if not thousands, of ways to promote yourself. Do what works for you, your budget, and your comfort zone.
